Sapiens - A Book Review

"Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind" is a thought-provoking and insightful exploration of the journey of Homo sapiens from ancient times to the present. The author Yuval Noah Harari presents a comprehensive overview of human history, encompassing various evolutionary, cultural, and societal developments that have shaped our species.

One of the most compelling aspects of the book is its ability to seamlessly blend science, history, anthropology, and philosophy into a coherent narrative. Harari skillfully navigates through complex topics, making them accessible to readers from diverse backgrounds. Whether discussing the cognitive revolution, agricultural revolution, or the emergence of empires, Harari's narrative is engaging and intellectually stimulating.

Moreover, "Sapiens" challenges readers to question their assumptions about humanity and the world around them. Harari delves into controversial topics such as the impact of agriculture on human society, the ethical implications of technological advancements, and the nature of happiness. By presenting multiple perspectives and raising thought-provoking questions, the book encourages readers to critically examine their beliefs and understanding of the human experience.

Some books argue the pros and cons about a topic before adding the author's conclusion, I used to see this type of narration boring after a few pages. But the author has enough material in this book to keep the audience captivated and also gives enough food for thought to our imaginations.

Some topics like invention of navigation, agriculture, Industrial Revolution really fascinates me. The topics about religions across the world are thought-provoking as well. It makes me think in awe, how much the author would have researched for this book. Sometimes listening to the book actually felt like I was drafted to that era which is being narrated. I can go on and on, and this book gets a definite must read recommendation from me.

Special Note : This book has received a full rating from me, not because it is the best for everyone, but because of the topics it covers within a single book about history of mankind. For someone who only reads only specific niche of non-fiction books, this book came as a refreshing read and took considerable amount of time for me to complete (which I do not regret :) )
